APMP
Asia Pacific Metrology Programme (APMP) was established in 1980 to improve the quality of measurement standards in the Asia-Pacific region. In the 80s, APMP mainly focused on supporting the developing economies. In the 90s, especially since the signature of the CIPM MRA (CIPM Mutual Recognition Arrangement), APMP has also been engaging in ensuring the international equivalence in the measurement standards as one of the important tasks. As of March 2010, 43 institutions from 28 countries and economies are registered as members. China assumes the chairpersonship and the secretariat now.
Japan served 2 terms as the Chairperson of APMP from November 1999 to December 2003. International Metrology Cooperation Office of National Metrology Institute of Japan (NMIJ) was in commission as the secretariat from November 1999 until November 2007.
